The five-story, 8-unit tenement building at 1590 First Avenue, built in 1930, has experienced several notable issues in recent years, most significantly ongoing heating and hot water problems. Between 2021 and 2023, there were multiple complaints regarding heating and hot water service, affecting both individual apartments and the entire building, with the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) responding to emergencies in November 2022 and March 2022.

More recently, as of April 2025, there is currently an open complaint with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) regarding a food poisoning incident. The building underwent inspections in 2023 that revealed violations concerning door self-closing mechanisms at both the building entrance and vestibule, though these were certified as corrected.
