The five-story, 12-unit tenement building at 2106 Amsterdam Avenue in Washington Heights, built in 1900 and currently owned by Sefik Gunes, has experienced several notable maintenance and compliance issues in recent years. As of March 2025, there are multiple unresolved interior maintenance complaints including issues with the building's electrical systems (outlets/switches), plumbing (basin/sink), flooring, door, and intercom systems. The building is currently under scrutiny for failing to maintain proper fire escape equipment, with a violation noted in September 2023 regarding a broken drop ladder that was certified as corrected by November 2023.

Of particular concern are two open violations from April 2023 related to lead paint notification and record-keeping requirements, which remain unresolved.
