The five-story, 26-unit New Law Tenement building at 960 Tiffany Street in Longwood, owned by Jennifer Lau, has experienced several maintenance issues in recent years, particularly related to heating and water systems. Most recently, in January 2025, there was a building-wide heat/hot water complaint that was investigated but did not violate HPD housing laws.

Throughout 2024, multiple complaints were recorded and inspected, including several instances of water leaks (both heavy flow and slow leaks), electrical issues with outlets, and various plumbing problems affecting toilets and radiators. Notably, there are open violations from January 2024 regarding inadequate heat and hot water supply in Apartment 1E, and concerns about access to the building's heating system. The building has also faced recurring heater/hot water issues, with similar complaints appearing as far back as 2023.

Additional concerns were documented in 2023-2024, including multiple plumbing-related problems affecting various apartments (1B, 5C, and 5D), low water volume issues in bathrooms, and a lack of carbon monoxide and smoke detectors in Apartment 5C, though these violations were subsequently certified as corrected. The elevator system experienced two complaints about single device service in 2022, with one resulting in an Oath violation, and there was a construction-related stop work order in 2020 that was later rescinded. The building appears to have maintained good pest control, with no bedbug infestations reported in recent years and only one instance of rodent activity detected during a 2017 inspection, which was subsequently addressed.
