The two-story, four-unit residential building at 1027 Longfellow Avenue in Longwood, owned by Neil Dankner, has experienced several concerning maintenance issues over the past two years. Most recently, in November 2024, there were two separate complaints about unsanitary conditions in garbage/recycling storage and heat/hot water issues affecting the entire building.

HPD inspectors were unable to gain access for proper evaluation in both cases, and while one of these complaints was subsequently closed, the unsanitary conditions complaint remained unresolved as of the last update. The building has also been cited for failing to file required annual bedbug reports between 2021 and 2024, with open violations on record for each of these years. Previous complaints about pests (December 2022) were inspected but no violations were found, and notably, an "Illegal Conversion" complaint was filed in November 2024 but inspectors were unable to gain access during their inspection attempts in March 2025.

Despite these recent issues, the building has shown consistent compliance with rodent inspections, passing all inspections conducted between 2010 and 2017. The property, built in 1930 as a New Law Tenement, has undergone no major structural changes or renovations on record. While there have been periodic complaints about various maintenance issues, the inability of inspectors to gain access for proper evaluations - particularly regarding heat/hot water and garbage/recycling conditions - suggests potential challenges with tenant responsiveness to maintenance inspections.
