The 8-unit, 3-story building at 638 Manida Street in Hunts Point, owned by Y Bornstein and constructed in 1930, has experienced several significant maintenance issues in recent months. Between April 2025 and May 2025, the building faced multiple heat and hot water complaints affecting both individual apartments and the entire building, along with indoor air quality concerns and multiple unsanitary conditions related to pests. These complaints resulted in HPD inspections, with some violations being issued that required correction by the property owner.

The building has documented water-related issues as well, including slow leaks and damp spots, for which violations were issued during the same period.
