The two-family house at 1871 Harrison Avenue in Morris Heights has experienced recurring infrastructure issues over the past several years, with the most recent incidents occurring in April 2025 involving both an electric power outage and heat/hot water problems, for which Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) was unable to gain access to conduct inspections. Additionally, there were complaints about ceiling paint/plaster conditions during the same period, though no violations were issued.

Earlier in 2025, there were also heat/hot water concerns affecting the entire building and issues with sewage odors that prompted a Department of Health and Mental Hygiene advisory. The building has a documented history of utility-related problems, including multiple electrical issues (outages, lighting problems, and outlet concerns) and water supply problems, particularly evident in a cluster of complaints from September 2020, though HPD was again unable to complete inspections for these issues.

An emergency heat/hot water complaint from 2018 and separate works related to an unsanitary condition involving pests were also recorded. While the most recent problems reflect ongoing maintenance challenges, it's worth noting that no violations were issued for the April 2025 complaints, and previous heat/hot water issues were reportedly corrected within a few days of being reported.
