The two-story, three-unit New Law Tenement building at 1973 Chatterton Avenue in Unionport, constructed in 1920 and currently owned by Yifei Wu, has exhibited several maintenance issues over recent years. The most recent significant incident was a heat and hot water complaint in February 2022, which was promptly resolved by the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD).

Between July and September 2018, the building experienced multiple electrical issues, including two power outages, one incident of no lighting, and problems with an outlet/switch, though none of these resulted in any violations. August 2018 also saw an unsanitary condition complaint regarding pests, which did generate violations. The building's plumbing system faced challenges in July 2018 with a water supply issue that was categorized as an emergency.

Additional concerns were raised in 2018 regarding potential illegal activities, including after-hours work, unpermitted construction, and an illegal conversion complaint, though inspections generally found no violations at the time. Two construction-related complaints from July 2018 and January 2019 were closed without violations, and while there was an illegal conversion complaint filed in July 2018, this was ultimately resolved with a vacate order being fully rescinded in December 2021. Notably, the building has maintained a record of being free from bedbug infestations during the reporting periods from 2019 to 2024, with zero infested or eradicated units reported in the most recent three years.
