The 4-unit, 2-story New Law Tenement building at 843 East 218th Street in Williamsbridge, owned by Yale Nutt, was constructed in 1928 and has experienced recurring heating and hot water system issues over the past few years. Most recently, in April 2025, there have been multiple open complaints regarding heating and hot water problems affecting the entire building, as well as issues with cooking gas and an electric/gas range.

These follow a pattern of similar complaints, with emergency reports in December 2024 and earlier instances, particularly in December 2022 and 2023, indicating persistent infrastructure maintenance challenges. The building underwent several safety improvements in 2022, including the resolution of violations related to infrequent conditions such as roach infestation, window guards, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and self-closing doors in Apartment 1F.

Importantly, there have been no documented bedbug infestations in any of the annual reports from 2018 through 2023, suggesting effective pest management practices. While some maintenance issues appear to be ongoing, particularly in the heating and hot water systems, most previous violations have been addressed promptly, with the majority of complaints from 2021 to present showing resolution within a few days of reporting, though some remain open as of the current date in July 2025.
