The 57-unit, 6-story New Law Tenement building at 1534 Ericson Place in Schuylerville, owned by Haxhe Celaj, has experienced several significant maintenance and habitability issues over the past year. Most notably, there was a series of eight consecutive complaints in April 2025 regarding lack of heat and hot water affecting the entire building, all of which were eventually resolved but indicate persistent system reliability concerns. More recently, in June 2025, a water leak resulting in damp spots was reported and violations were issued, though the final resolution status as of June 2025 is still pending confirmation of correction through HPD.

The building has also faced various structural and safety issues, including multiple violations in late 2024 related to Apartment 3C, such as pest infestations (rodents and roaches), water leaks, and missing safety devices (smoke and carbon monoxide detectors). Other maintenance challenges have included problems with doors in Apartments 1A and 3K, and an active ECB violation from February 2024 regarding exterior brick wall disrepair with an associated penalty.
