The four-story, eight-unit residential building at 131 Amity Street in Cobble Hill, owned by Martin Baumrind and constructed in 1880, has a notable historical record of maintenance issues from 1988 through 2006. The most significant cluster of violations occurred in May 1988, when multiple issues were identified including inadequate public hall lighting, missing smoke detectors, a locked heating system access door, broken stairs, defective wall and ceiling paint requiring light-colored repainting, and the need for clear floor numbering signs in public areas.
