The 4-unit, 4-story New Law Tenement building at 349 Hoyt Street in Gowanus, owned by Laura Janness and constructed in 1920, has experienced several notable events over the past few years. Most recently, there were two Housing Maintenance Code violations in 2023 and 2024 related to the filing of annual bedbug reports, though these violations have been closed.

The building has maintained a clean record regarding actual bedbug infestations, with all four annual reports (2021-2024) showing zero infested, eradicated, or re-infested units. In 2020, there were three significant complaints filed with the Department of Buildings: one regarding building shaking or vibration, another about unauthorized work in an occupied multiple dwelling, and a third concerning site conditions endangering workers.
