1340 Prospect Place is a two-family, two-story residence located in Crown Heights, built in 1910 and currently owned by Shimon Sabah. The property experienced a series of construction-related issues in early 2020, when multiple complaints were filed between late February and July. These complaints, which included concerns about work beyond approved plans and inadequate protection for adjacent buildings, were primarily centered around ongoing construction activities.

The Department of Buildings conducted several inspections during this period, generally finding no violations at the time of inspection or performing compliance inspections. However, more serious issues emerged in mid-2020 related to COVID-19 protocols. In July 2020, a Stop Work Order was issued (though later rescinded) due to ongoing construction activities contrary to Mayor's Emergency Executive Orders. This resulted in a $5,000 penalty that has since been resolved.

Earlier in 2020, on February 24, two Environmental Control Board violations were issued regarding safety concerns, including approximately seven workers lacking proper personal protective equipment in an extensively renovated interior with open ceilings and various exposed areas, as well as structural work being performed that did not conform to approved construction documents. One of these violations carried a $2,500 penalty, though this also has been resolved. A construction permit was issued on February 6, 2020, just weeks before the complaints began. While the building has had multiple violations and complaints in 2020, all have been closed or resolved.
