The 16-unit, 4-story tenement building at 1233 St. Johns Place in Crown Heights, owned by Naquan Rickenbacker, has experienced several significant maintenance issues over the past few years, particularly affecting the 3A apartment.

Most recently, in August 2023, multiple violations were documented in apartment 3A including pest infestations (both mice and roaches), inadequate gas supply for cooking, missing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, bathroom plumbing issues, and problems with wooden floors.
