The three-story, six-unit residential building at 180 Sumpter Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant, owned by Aheadholdings LLC, has maintained a relatively stable history since its construction in 1909. Most recently, in April 2024, the building received an open Class A violation for not filing the annual bedbug report as required by HPD regulations.

This appears to be a recurring issue, with similar violations recorded in March 2022 and April 2021, though no actual bedbug infestations were reported in the subsequent filings for the periods up until October 2022, showing the building had zero infested dwelling units and no eradication or re-infestation cases during those years. A significant cluster of violations was documented in May 2023, primarily concerning fire safety and maintenance issues in the cellar area. These included missing or defective self-closing doors on the north fire door leading to the building front and the boiler room, as well as on the south fire door leading to the south yard.

Additionally, there was a Class B violation regarding approximately one inch of stagnant water in the cellar that required cleaning and disinfection. All these 2023 violations have since been resolved and closed. The building has maintained a clean record during recent rodent inspections, passing all inspections conducted in 2019, 2022, 2024, and most recently in July 2025, suggesting effective pest control measures are in place despite the bedbug report filing issues.
