The three-story, 1931 Bedford-Stuyvesant building at 59 Mac Donough Street, owned by Keith Wachtel, has experienced several significant maintenance issues over recent years. Most notably, there are currently four open violations (as of April 2024) related to the failure to file annual bedbug reports as required by HPD rules, which have persisted since 2021.

The building has also experienced three separate incidents of heat and hot water issues affecting the entire building between 2020 and 2024, with one such incident occurring as recently as December 2020. A construction-related indoor air quality complaint regarding dust was filed in October 2024, which resulted in an advisory to the owner for correction. While the building has maintained good rodent inspection results since 2021 (with a "Passed" rating in all but one instance), there have been concerns about internal systems and appliances.
