The 8-unit, 4-story residential building at 188 Cooper Street in Bushwick, owned by Keqi Wei and constructed in 2018, has experienced several maintenance issues over the past few years. Most recently, in September 2024, the building received complaints regarding window frames, flooring, and wall conditions, though inspections found no violations.

In late 2023 and mid-2024, there were multiple complaints about water-related issues, including three separate reports of water leaks (in July 2023 and August 2023) for which inspectors were unable to gain access, and a July 2023 complaint about mold that resulted in violations. The building has also faced heating system problems, with two separate heating/hot water complaints in 2023 (May and December), the latter resulting in violations, though the May issue was resolved during inspection. The Department of Buildings (DOB) records show several historical complaints between 2018 and 2024, including two significant Stop Work Orders issued on July 17, 2020, related to construction safety concerns, which were later rescinded in March 2022.
