514 Sheffield Avenue is a 2-story, 4-unit New Law Tenement building constructed in 1930 and currently owned by Frances Thom. The building has experienced several maintenance issues over its recent history, with the most significant cluster of problems occurring in late 2021, when multiple complaints were logged and subsequently investigated by the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) regarding unsanitary conditions (pests), plumbing issues (bathtub/shower), and various problems with doors, windows, and walls.

While these complaints were closed without violations being issued, they reflected multiple maintenance concerns within a short time period. The building has had persistent issues with maintaining proper documentation of bedbug inspections, as evidenced by an open violation as of April 2024 regarding failure to file the required annual bedbug report for the period ending October 2022.
