The four-story, 12-unit New Law Tenement building at 6519 14th Avenue in Bensonhurst, owned by David Hirsh and constructed in 1931, has experienced several maintenance issues in recent years, particularly in 2025. Most notably, there have been multiple complaints in April 2025 regarding water leaks (heavy flow), window issues (pane and frame), cabinet painting needs, and heat/hot water problems.

While some of these were resolved or corrected according to tenant reports, HPD was unable to complete inspections for several of these complaints. The building has a documented history of heat and hot water issues, with similar complaints recorded in October and November 2022, though these problems were reportedly resolved. A pest issue was reported in November 2021 but was verified as corrected by HPD.

The property has maintained a clean record in terms of bedbug infestations over the past several years, with all annual reports from 2018 through 2024 showing zero infested or re-infested units. Rodent inspections conducted in December 2023 (failed) and January 2024 (passed) suggest recent attention to vermin control, though the December 2023 failure was attributed to "Other Reasons." A 2023 complaint regarding an unsanitary animal (dog) on private property could not be investigated due to access issues. The building's multiple heat/hot water complaints, particularly those categorized as emergencies, and the recent cluster of maintenance issues in 2025 warrant attention, though many of these have been reported as resolved through tenant communication with authorities.
