The 24-unit, 4-story New Law Tenement building at 1955 East 7th Street in Sheepshead Bay, owned by Uri Koenig, was constructed in 1929 and has exhibited several maintenance and safety issues over the past few years. Most notably, in June 2021, the building experienced multiple emergency and non-emergency housing maintenance code complaints involving window frames, wall conditions, and flooring issues.

A significant cluster of violations was documented in Apartment C6 during 2021, including problems with water leaks, kitchen fixtures, flooring, and various surface damages, all of which were subsequently closed after appropriate repairs were made. More recent inspections in June 2023 led to violations regarding public safety features, including a skylight mesh requirement, a broken marble saddle at a fire door, and rust issues on fire escape components, all of which were certified as corrected by July 2023.

There was also a 2023 violation related to failure to file the 2021 external low-pressure inspection, which was later dismissed. The most recent complaint from November 2023 regarding parking lot lights was investigated and found to have no violations. Of particular note, the building has maintained a consistent record of being free from bedbug infestations, as evidenced by the annual reporting for the past seven years, with no units reported as infested or requiring eradication between 2019 and 2025.
