5417 Avenue J is a 2-family house located in Flatlands, Brooklyn, built in 1920 and currently owned by Abe Mark. The two-story building has experienced recurring heating system issues, with emergency heat/hot water complaints filed in January 2025 for both the entire building and individual apartments; notably, these complaints were interconnected with another existing complaint that was already logged with HPD.

The building underwent several significant events in 2020, including multiple emergency complaints about structural and maintenance issues such as mold (unsanitary condition), plumbing problems with basins/sinks, and a slow water leak - although no violations were ultimately issued following HPD inspections of these matters.
