8516 Glenwood Road, Brooklyn, NY 11236

The two-family house at 8516 Glenwood Road in Canarsie, owned by Dmytro Korogodskyy, has experienced significant maintenance issues since its construction in 2004. The most substantial cluster of problems emerged in January 2019, when multiple complaints were filed regarding unsanitary conditions, pest infestations, water leaks, and various infrastructure issues including problems with plumbing (specifically basins/sinks), walls and ceilings requiring paint/plaster work, flooring concerns, and mold presence.

Despite the severity of these complaints, the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) was unable to gain access to inspect many of these reported conditions, resulting in multiple complaints being closed without resolution. Following these complaints, an inspection in September 2019 revealed several Class B and C violations in Apartment 2, including inadequate heating and hot water supply, unsafe electrical wiring with exposed components, various ceiling and wall maintenance issues, and concerns about mold.

Some of these violations were subsequently certified as corrected, while others, such as the hot water supply issue, remained open. An additional complaint regarding potentially defective gas hook-up/piping was recorded in January 2019, though the inspector was again unable to gain access for verification. The building, which consists of a single story with two units, appears to have had persistent maintenance challenges throughout 2019, with many issues centering around Apartment 2's infrastructure and basic utility systems, though there are no recorded complaints or violations in the subsequent years up to 2023.
