The three-story, three-unit building at 58-39 Penrod Street in Corona, owned by Kay Chan and constructed in 1967, has a concerning history of maintenance issues, particularly during late 2019 and early 2020. During this period, multiple complaints were filed regarding unsanitary conditions, with several specifically citing pest problems, though the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) reported being unable to gain access for inspections in some cases.

Other maintenance issues during this period included an emergency plumbing problem involving toilets, a carbon monoxide detector concern, problems with doors/windows, wall damage, and lighting issues, all of which were eventually closed.
