The 6-unit, 3-story New Law Tenement building at 17-33 Stephen Street in Ridgewood, owned by Marek Swiatkowski and constructed in 1931, has experienced several maintenance issues in recent years. Most notably, in mid-2024, there were multiple complaints regarding the building's intercom system and electrical wiring, with one of the intercom-related complaints resulting in violations.

In late June 2024, an inspection revealed multiple open violations requiring attention, including issues with the ceiling light fixture in the second-story public hall, broken fire-retardant materials in the third-story hall, and various safety-related notice requirements. These violations include the need to properly repair a leaking roof section above the third-story public hall, post important safety notices about carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detector requirements, and maintain a proper registration sign at the entrance.

The most recent violations from 2024 remain open as of the most recent inspection date in June 2024, though some violations from that inspection were subsequently closed in July and August 2024.
