The three-story residential building at 40-16 165th Street in Flushing, owned by Young Yoon, has experienced recurring maintenance and safety issues since its completion in 1980. The most significant cluster of problems occurred in June 2020, when multiple violations were documented involving water supply issues, water leaks, safety concerns including smoke detector problems, electrical problems (including lighting issues), ceiling damage, and unsanitary conditions involving mold and pests.

These violations prompted inspections and resulted in the issuance of multiple Housing Maintenance Code violations that summer. More recently, as of 2023-2024, the building has been cited for failing to file mandatory annual bedbug reports, with open violations still pending resolution.
