The two-family house at 114-14 Liberty Avenue in Richmond Hill, built in 1920, has experienced several significant maintenance issues over the past few years, particularly during 2022. The property, currently owned by Arshaad Azimulla, has documented two open violations from November 2022 regarding inadequate electrical service to specific outlets in the second-floor apartment.

During late 2022, there was a concerning pattern of utility issues, including multiple power outages (October 2022), heat and hot water problems (October 2022), and various appliance concerns, including refrigerator and electric range issues. The building also experienced plumbing problems with water supply issues in October 2022, and there was an open construction lead dust complaint in common areas as of August 2022 that was still in progress as of my last knowledge update. Earlier in 2022, both unsanitary conditions involving mold and pest infestations (notably mice and roaches) were documented in the second-floor apartment, along with multiple housing maintenance code violations related to building maintenance and conditions.

The property has two older complaints from 2019-2024, including an illegal conversion complaint from 2024 that resulted in an inspector being unable to gain access, and a 2019 complaint about improper vent/exhaust that was found unsubstantiated. In 2022, there was also an Environmental Control Board violation related to improper scaffolding on an active job site, which was resolved with no penalties. While many of the 2022 issues have been officially closed, there remains a notable history of maintenance challenges, particularly regarding utilities and living conditions during that period.
