The two-family house at 198-19 Hollis Avenue in St. Albans, owned by Gregory Kane, has experienced several maintenance issues over the past few years, with the most significant problems occurring in apartment 2 on the second floor. Multiple complaints were filed in late 2022 and early 2023, including problems with electric outlets, heating, windows, doors, and various appliances.

A cluster of complaints from November 2022 through April 2023 revealed urgent issues involving plumbing (toilets and bathtub/shower), along with concerns about pests, flooring, doors, walls, and the mailbox system. As of March 2023, there are several open violations related to apartment 2, including problems with plastered surfaces, electrical outlets, ceramic tile flooring in the bathroom, and evidence of a mouse infestation. Additional issues were noted regarding leaky faucets, electrical panel concerns, and walls requiring repairs and repainting.

There is also a water leak issue documented in the first-story public hall. An illegal conversion complaint was filed and closed in March 2023, though inspectors were unable to gain access on their final two attempts in June 2023. While many of the earlier complaints from December 2022 resulted in inspections with no violations issued, the cumulative nature of the more recent complaints and violations suggests ongoing maintenance challenges, particularly affecting the second-floor apartment.
