The two-family house at 117-33 127th Street in South Ozone Park, owned by Ashram Harryginsingh, has experienced recurring issues with illegal conversions over the past several years. Most notably, between late 2021 and early 2023, the building underwent unauthorized modifications that transformed it from a legal one-family structure with a first-floor garage into a three-family dwelling.

Inspectors documented the creation of two unauthorized Class A apartments on the first floor, complete with full kitchens, bathrooms, and multiple bedrooms. These violations, along with additional concerns regarding unpermitted construction of partition walls, plumbing installations, and electrical work, were eventually dismissed in February 2023 after an inspection confirmed compliance with job #Q08020573, and a previously issued vacate order was fully rescinded. The most recent complaint regarding illegal conversion was filed in October 2024, though this too resulted in no violations being found during the inspection conducted in May 2025.

Earlier complaints from 2021-2022 regarding illegal conversions had similar outcomes, with inspections revealing no violations at the time. A construction enforcement work order from November 2021 also found no violations upon inspection. Notably, all previously cited violations from late 2021, including unauthorized partitioning, plumbing work, electrical installations, and modifications to the garage door, were resolved and dismissed in February 2023 during a subsequent inspection, which confirmed that all work conformed to the proper job permits.
