The 194-unit, 17-story building at 5125 Beach Channel Drive in Edgemere, completed in 2022 and owned by Ilsoo Kim, has experienced significant operational challenges since its opening. Most notably, there was an extensive and recurring series of heat and hot water issues throughout May 2025, with multiple emergency complaints filed between May 24 and May 27, 2025, affecting the entire building.

While some of these complaints resulted in violations being issued by the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), others showed heat and hot water had been restored by the time of inspection. A single door-related complaint was filed and inspected in June 2025, which HPD determined did not violate housing laws. Prior to these recent issues, the building's construction phase in 2023 saw several complaints regarding site conditions endangering workers between January and July 2023, though inspections typically found no violations except for one instance where an Oath violation was served.

There was also a plumbing complaint in April 2023 that did not warrant any violations upon inspection. Additionally, a violation regarding failure to file an energy benchmarking report was recorded in May 2023, though this was later dismissed. While the building is relatively new, these service request patterns suggest ongoing maintenance challenges, particularly regarding the heating systems, which have required multiple emergency interventions in recent months.
