The 2-family house at 642 Bay Street in Stapleton, built in 1931 and currently owned by Meryl Masor, has experienced several notable incidents in recent years. Most significantly, in late 2023, the property faced issues related to unauthorized renovations, with two complaints about work done without permits in occupied multiple dwelling spaces.

These incidents led to Environmental Control Board violations, including a $2,500 penalty for tampering with a stop-work order and another $2,500 penalty for unauthorized interior renovations that reportedly involved removing a fire-rated wall between commercial and residential spaces.
