The three-story two-family house at 33 Cornell Place in Clifton, owned by Shirley Zacharia, has been experiencing recurring water-related issues since at least 2018. Most recently, in 2025, there was a complaint filed regarding a slow water leak, which was documented through both 311 service requests and Housing Maintenance Code complaints.

Interestingly, when inspectors attempted to investigate this recent complaint in April 2025, they were unable to gain access to the property, though follow-up communication was initiated through a card left at the scene and a letter from HPD. The status of this recent complaint remains somewhat ambiguous, as both the 311 service request and housing maintenance complaint were ultimately closed due to lack of access for inspection.

Looking back at the building's history, two significant violations were recorded in February 2018, both related to issues in the bathroom located on the first story of the upper-level apartment (Apartment 1). These violations included problems with a leaking roof affecting the bathroom ceiling and issues with broken or defective plastered surfaces requiring repairs and repainting in a uniform color.
