The two-family house at 436 Klondike Avenue in New Springville, owned by Diane Demartinis, experienced several significant maintenance issues in mid-2019. On June 26, 2019, multiple complaints were filed regarding unsanitary conditions, including reports of mold and pests, as well as problems with the ventilation system and window frame.

These issues were investigated by the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), resulting in violations related to mold and window repairs. Specifically, a July 5 inspection revealed a mold condition (approximately 5 square feet) in the bathroom of the second-floor apartment that required tracing the source and abating the visible mold, along with a violation for a defective casement window crank handle in the east wall of a room in the same apartment that needed proper repair.

While the pest and ventilation system complaints were closed without violations being issued, the building did have documented violations regarding the mold and window issues. Fortunately, both violations were certified as corrected by September 23, 2019, and there have been no recorded housing maintenance code violations or significant complaints in the subsequent years leading up to July 2025, suggesting that these specific issues were resolved and no similar problems have recurred.
