5014 4th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11220

The three-story, two-family house at 5014 4th Avenue in Sunset Park, owned by David Shorenstein, was constructed in 1931 and has had several significant events over the past few years. Most notably, in March 2019, the building experienced a heat and hot water emergency affecting the entire building, which prompted complaints to both the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) and the Housing Maintenance Code Complaints system.

Unfortunately, inspectors were unable to gain access to the apartments for verification purposes, and the complaint was closed with a recommendation to file a new complaint if the issues persisted. More recently, there was a permitted construction-related activity in the building, with a permit for electrical work (EW) filed on December 8, 2020, which was subsequently issued on April 15, 2021.

This represents a positive development in terms of building maintenance and infrastructure updates. As of now, there have been no documented heat or water issues since the 2019 incident, and the electrical work permit suggests some level of proactive maintenance or upgrading of building systems.
