The 25-unit, 4-story tenement at 1624 Sterling Place in Crown Heights, owned by Kerry Kramer, has experienced several recurring issues in 2025, most notably multiple heat and hot water system problems. Between March and April 2025, there were nine separate complaints regarding heat and hot water issues affecting the entire building, with some units reporting similar problems. While many of these complaints were ultimately closed, several required HPD inspections which could not be completed due to access issues.

More recently, there is an ongoing investigation (as of June 2025) regarding construction lead dust entering an apartment, and two additional complaints from May 2025 involving ceiling plaster issues and a power outage, though HPD was unable to complete inspections for these cases. The building's elevator system has been a significant concern over the past year, with multiple complaints filed between 2024 and 2025 regarding single device service without alternate options, with Oath violations served in some cases. A December 2024 complaint regarding work without a permit in occupied multiple dwelling was investigated in June 2025 but no violations were found.

Other issues of note include a possible locked or blocked egress (May 2025, no violation found upon inspection), and some door/window-related problems reported in January 2025, though these were promptly addressed. It's also worth noting that the building has had regular category 5 elevator inspections, though a related violation from December 2021 was only dismissed in July 2025. Importantly, there have been no reported bedbug infestations in the past two reporting periods (most recent filing period: November 2023 - October 2024).
