The four-story, multi-family residential building at 15 Darrell Place in Telegraph Hill, owned by Andrew M. and Billi Wiesenthal, has undergone significant renovation and modernization since 2016. The 3-unit, 1900-built structure experienced major work in 2016 when unauthorized demolition occurred, resulting in a housing inspection case that was eventually resolved in 2017.

This was followed by substantial improvements including plumbing upgrades (radiant underfloor heating system and complete domestic plumbing overhaul), electrical upgrades (individual unit rewiring, washer/dryer installations, and energy storage system installation), and various facade and structural work. Between 2017 and 2021, multiple permits were issued and completed for these improvements, notably including three separate street space permits in 2018-2019 and facade shoring work in late 2016. The building has recently faced several maintenance challenges, particularly related to plumbing and sanitation. In 2024 alone, there were reports of flooding on the property, sewage issues (including a side sewer vent discharge), and multiple instances of garbage and debris requiring removal.

These issues were generally resolved through municipal intervention. Historical records show routine housing inspections in 1999, 2005, and 2007, with the 2005 inspection noting fire safety concerns regarding extinguishers, smoke detectors, and emergency exits, all of which were abated within three weeks. Two fire alarm incidents were recorded, though neither involved actual fires or injuries. The most recent construction-related work was a 2021 electrical permit for installing a 13.5kWh energy storage system with associated electrical infrastructure.
