The three-story multi-family residential building at 5 Keyes Alley in Nob Hill, owned by the Jay Lai Har Revocable Trust, was constructed in 1906 and contains three units. The building's most significant recent issue was a sewer leak complaint in May 2013 that affected the backyard area, though this was promptly resolved within a week. Between 1999 and 2007, the building underwent several routine inspections that identified various safety and maintenance issues, primarily in 2000 and 2007. The 2007 inspection revealed multiple concerns including inadequate lighting, egress obstructions, and the need for self-closing devices at exterior doors, all of which were resolved by September 2007. The earlier 2000 inspections identified multiple safety requirements that needed attention, such as the installation of smoke detectors in the lobby and stairwell, and the need for gas meter instructions and shutoff tools, which were also addressed within approximately six months. The only other recorded incident in recent memory was a 311 call in November 2018 regarding waste on the street or sidewalk, which was resolved through the appropriate Department of Public Works channels. All identified violations and complaints have been marked as not active, indicating they were resolved appropriately.
