This two-unit residential building, located at 834 South Van Ness Ave in the Inner Mission neighborhood, is a two-story flats and duplex structure built in 1904 and owned by Gregory Mayzel. The property has undergone several significant renovations, particularly in 2006 when major improvements were made including complete electrical system upgrades, window replacements, and kitchen and bathroom relocations in both units. These improvements, which totaled over $100,000, included installing electrical heaters throughout the units, addressing dry rot, and updating plumbing and lighting systems.

More recently, in 2010, work was done on the front yard retaining wall and exterior stair. The building is currently facing serious electrical safety concerns, as evidenced by a July 2023 complaint that reported hazardous electrical conditions including exposed wiring and an allegedly unsafe connection involving an extension cord and water heater outlet. This issue remains active as of October 2023.

Additionally, there have been multiple complaints and 311 calls in late 2024 regarding illegal construction and various sanitation issues outside the building.
